Iced Tea
Plunge into a brisk, tall glass of iced tea! Time will stand still as you take an iced tea break on a sultry, summer day. Any tea can be poured over ice, but these teas are especially crisp, cool and refreshing. Try mixing Little Black Dress, our classic black tea, with any of our herbal teas, for a flavored, black iced tea.
It was pure luck when Richard Blechynden invented iced tea at the World's Fair in 1904 in St. Louis. An unexpected heat wave had moved in and Richard was having a hard time selling his hot tea. In a desperate move, he poured the tea over ice and created the classic American drink.
Many of our teas have specific instructions for preparing them as an iced tea, however, here is a general guideline:
Bring cold water to a boil. Double the amount of tea normally used per cup. Add to infuser and pour hot water over leaves. For black teas and herbal teas, brew 3-5 minutes. For green and white tea, brew for less time. Pour over ice.
